AM Skincare Routine // Spring Edition

AM Skincare Routine

I take my skincare very seriously. After struggling with my skin for a couple years, I’ve been trying to invest in skincare that will help me have clearer skin. Doing my morning and evening skincare has become something that I look forward everyday and I occasionally mix things up with an exfoliator but for the most part, I stick to the same products. I definitely don’t own as much skincare as some, but my AM skincare routine contains six products.

I am not made of money, so I mostly stick to drugstore or indie beauty brands. I like products that leave my skin feeling cleansed and moisturized without feeling greasy.

I do a pretty thorough job of cleansing at night, so in the morning I stick to a gentle moisturizer, like the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I have a smaller size but have been using it for quite some time now and have more left.  My next step is to tone. I’m currently using the Pixi Glow Tonic on a round cotton pad. It doesn’t tingle my skin too much but does make my skin feel just a tad bit smoother.

I’m only 26, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to try to combat skin aging. I’m not quite ready to invest in a super expensive retinoid so I am trying the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum (previously mentioned here). I picked this up at Target for around $25. I can’t attest to it’s effectiveness yet but it smells good and feels nice on my skin. It goes on smooth and absorbs immediately.

After toning, I apply a serum. I used to use the Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate but since it’s 10.5% Vitamin C, I had to switch to something different (apparently they interacting negatively). The Herbivore Orchid Facial Oil has a weird smell, but feels amazing. I wouldn’t say it’s the thickest oil out there, but it definitely makes your skin feel super moisturized. It actually absorbs pretty quickly but still gives my skin a natural looking glow. By this point in my routine, I have to pause to brush my teeth since the oil needs a little time to absorb.

To finish my AM Skincare Routine off, I pat some Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream under my eyes. I have seriously dark circles in the morning no matter how much sleep I got, and the ingredients are supposed to invigorate and wake up tired eyes. I’m not sure how much it actually helps with my dark circles but it does provide some much needed light moisture.

The last step of providing moisture is to apply the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer. This moisturizer is safe for sensitive skin and has the perfect amount of weight. It’s not too thick or too thin and is perfect for morning use. I also love the packaging and price tag. By time I apply my makeup, my skin feels fresh.

I’ve been using this combination of skincare for just about a month now (the toner, serum, and facial oil) and some of the products on their own even longer (the cleanser, moisturizer, and eye cream). My skin hasn’t become irritate or broken out, so that’s good enough for me. I’m not sure if I would replace all of these products when they run out with the exception of the facial oil and moisturizer. If they improve my skin, I’ll definitely keep using and repurchase.

Do you have any products that are just must haves for your AM skincare routine?
