Just like that… fall is here! I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about the cooler weather but there has been a snowflake on my 10 day forecast off and on over the last few days and I am NOT happy about that. It seems like overnight the leaves started changing and Ohio is beginning to look beautiful. I hope to get out soon to get photographic evidence before winter crashes the party. In the meantime, I have fully embraced autumn beauty tones and products.
When it comes to makeup, I do love summer’s minimalism and glow because that suits my preferences but autumn beauty isn’t too bad either. Usually the glow factor is toned down in the colder months but I am determined to avoid looking too dry this year. I would normally transition to a more high coverage concealer like the Tarte Shape Tape but I think this year I will drag out my Glossier Stretch Concealer a bit more. It’s sheer but feels so good on the skin. Setting concealer with powder is always a must for me and the Too Faced Primed & Poreless is my favorite.
Another summery product that I’m not ready to let go of is my Becca cream highlighter in Opal. When the heat kicks in my skin usually starts to feel pretty parched so I like the idea of continuing with creamy products rather than powder. I also find this formula to be a bit more natural than the powder formula, which is a look I go for more during the autumn and winter.
I mentioned in my Autumn Picks that I love a bold lip and I meant it. During the week, I take it easy with the makeup but I will ever so often add a lip color that has a little more oomph to it than my typical lip balm. When I want something comfortable that will wear off well, I always go for my Mac Lipstick in Plumful. It has that autumnal look that I love without being too dark.
For the days where I am feeling more adventurous and wear eyeshadow, I am all about the warm tones. My palette collection is getting a bit cray but my newest palette, the Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette, is perfect for autumn. The colors appear pretty out there but despite how unwearable they look in the pan, I have found that there are plenty of neutral shadows to tone everything down. Currently, red ochre and antique bronze are my favorite shades.
Now that it feels like autumn, I am sure it is all I will talk about until the cold really sets in. I will never get tired of it! This weekend is supposed to be especially cool and I have quite a bit going on so hopefully I can sneak away to enjoy the fall foliage a bit because can you believe it, this is the last Friday in October!
