I have felt like time flies for years now, but having a baby has sped things up even more. I feel like I blinked and autumn was over. Naively, I thought I would be able to get out and enjoy it more not being at work but I have found that I barely left the house. Since I’ve been such a homebody, I wanted to share my current winter favorites so far.
Here are some things I’ve been loving lately:
OK, so technically I finished this book before winter began but it is too good not to share. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman was better than I expected. It made me laugh out loud, it made me cry. I love a good book that makes me feel for the characters and I began quite fond of Eleanor as I read this book. It’s not a particularly long book and the ending was very satisfying, which is something some of the books I’ve read lately have been lacking. This book has definitely gotten me back into fiction. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
For the last several months I’ve been using the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream. Pregnancy dried my skin out and this moisturizer has left it feeling so moisturized. I layer it with my trusty Herbivore Orchid Facial Oil but this moisturizer itself is so… moisturizing. It is a bit pricey but my current tube has lasted me a long time and I’m only about halfway through.
Early on in autumn, I picked up a couple fashion pieces that I hoped to get some wear out of after baby arrived. The first is the Madewell Oversized Jean Jacket. I have been hunting for the perfect denim jacket for years and have been frustrated by how cropped women’s jackets are. As someone who is slightly taller than average, it was really important to me to find a jacket that at least hit my hips. I love everything at Madewell so it made sense to check their stock and I snagged this jacket for a discount on Nordstrom. I’ve worn it a few times since baby already and it is absolutely perfect with a length that hits me just below my hips and its nice, big pockets.
My second winter fashion favorite is Alternative High Waist Ribbed Jogger Pants. I bought these hoping I would be able to fit in them while pregnant but they were a tight squeeze. However, that didn’t stop me from wearing them to the hospital when I got induced. I am so, so happy that since baby has arrived, I fit in them perfectly. They are super comfortable and when paired with the right top and footwear, I think they are fine for wearing out in public. They are exactly the denim alternative I’ve been looking for since I shared my summer wish list.
Chris was sweet enough to buy me a Fitbit Versa for my birthday. I’ve wanted a Fitbit for quite some time to motivate me to be more active. With a new baby, it has been nice to have a watch within arm’s reach (pun intended) that tracks my steps and heart rate but can also help me keep track of time and notify me of texts, calls, and app notifications even if I have misplaced my phone. This watch is a fraction of the cost of an Apple watch but has everything I need.
