Everyday Makeup Face // September 2015

When I first started wearing makeup, I would wear the same products in the same way everyday. I had one mascara, one blush, one eyeliner. Eyeshadow was the first product that got me to start mixing things up and eventually my collection of products grew to what I have today. I still don’t see the point in having 10 mascaras, 20 lipsticks, and five bronzers but I have a few options, especially while I’m trying to decide if I like something or not. I have things that I like to save as a treat for special occasions but I’ve gotten a lot better about wearing my nicer products on a daily basis because it doesn’t make sense to spend all this money on makeup and then never actually use it. On a typical work day, I don’t wear as much makeup as I do on the weekends partly because I don’t see the point and partly because I just don’t have the time.

My everyday makeup routine changes slightly day-to-day but for the most part I follow the same steps just with different products. About half of the time I start off with some sort of base such as a tinted moisturizer or CC cream (such as the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream) to even out any irregularities on my skin. I always follow up with concealer under my eyes to cover up my circles and on any problem areas (the NARS Creamy Concealer is my absolute favorite). I always put a little cream shadow on my eyes as a base and exclusively use neutral colored shadows on top (the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette is pretty amazing). Mascara is probably my favorite beauty product and I like to use something that lengthens but still looks natural (Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes is absolutely amazing). Another really important step to me is filling my sparse brows in a bit because I think a little darkening and shaping goes a long way and makes my face look so much more put together. I finish by pressing powder in my t-zone to help keep the oil at bay and add some dimension with bronzer and blush.
