Glossier Product Review // First Impressions

glossier product review

I’ve definitely fallen out of love with makeup a bit. I don’t know if it’s because I wear less than I used to or because I give myself less time to get ready in the mornings, but I find that I don’t buy as much makeup. I still watch quite a few beauty bloggers but I let my YouTube subscription box build up quite a bit because I watch fewer beauty videos. I was not immune, though, to the arrival of Glossier. Most of the YouTubers I watch live in the UK so Glossier hasn’t really been given a lot of attention in their videos but I still heard a lot about this American brand. I finally picked up a few products and decided to do a Glossier Product Review.

Let me start off by saying I JUST got these in the mail. I mean, at the time I’m typing this, I have only worn them on my face once so this will be more of a first impressions. I poked around online for a few weeks before actually purchasing the items in my cart. Since I’m super into skincare, I had to throw one of Glossier’s skincare products in the mix but most of my mini haul is makeup.

I decided to get the Glossier Phase 2 Set because I wanted to try the Boy Brow and Stretch Concealer and for only $6 extra, I may as well throw in Generation G in Cake. All three are products that I would actually wear everyday so I think it was a good purchase. The lipstick is super neutral and sheer so it works for everyday. The ingredients list didn’t include beeswax and I haven’t had any negative reaction so that’s great!

The stretch concealer is one of the products I was most excited to try. It is very sheer but I found that it is buildable. It felt thin to the touch but I liked the texture as I blended it under my eyes. I didn’t try this on my blemishes because I felt I needed something higher coverage but if I’m having a good skin day, I’ll give it a try on spots. After wearing it all day under my eyes, it didn’t crumble, which happens to me a lot with other concealers. I love it for everyday coverage and the light shade is perfect for my skin tone.

I always have to do something with my brows and the Boy Brow thickened up my brows without making them too stiff. I haven’t used a tinted gel much so I was a little nervous applying it. It didn’t smear all over the skin around my eyebrows and the color worked well for my natural hair color. So far, so good!

The skincare product that I decided to pick up is the Super Glow serum. I’m all about the glow and have been using the Herbivore Orchid facial oil (mentioned here and here). I love it but wanted to throw another option into the mix. This contains Vitamin C so I won’t be able to use it in conjunction with my retinol serum but I love how fast this sunk into my skin. My Herbivore oil feels very dewey whereas this serum almost instantly blended in. It didn’t create quite the same glow as I am used to but I am willing to give it more time to see if it does improve my skin over time.

These days, I’m all about the natural look and Glossier seems to be on board with that. I would eventually like to try a few more products such as the Priming Moisturizer Cream and Super Bounce serum (skincare, of course). I think the price point is right there between drugstore and luxury and I like that their products are simple and to the point. I just picked up a few skincare bits from Sephora using my VIB discount but when I run out of my moisturizer next, I’ll be visiting Glossier’s online store again.

Happy Monday, everyone! Here’s to a productive week.
