It’s taken me way longer than I had anticipated but I finally have started putting together my dressing/makeup room (which I will show off in a future post). It still has a long way to go but it’s the perfect room for me to do my makeup in the morning. I swapped out my previous thrifted vanity for a Pottery Barn desk, which I purchased at the outlet six years ago, and filled up two out of the three drawers with makeup. I like to think that I have a pretty normal amount of makeup. I have watched several makeup collection videos on YouTube and I certainly don’t even compare to them, though I might have more than the average girl. I find that I wear mostly the same stuff everyday but do like to have some variety, to mix it up depending on the situation. I do like to make sure that my makeup storage is clean and organized.
I picked up the Ikea Alex while we were at the West Chester location last month. I haven’t even begun to fill it up but like to know that I have extra storage if I do start to accumulate more beauty products or decide to use it as extra bathroom/accessory storage.
The main drawer on the desk is divide into three compartments, which has made it a lot easier for me to keep my products separate. Right now, I just have things split between blush/highlighters, bronzers/highlighters, and everything else.
To keep things organized on the right side, I picked up some plastic drawer organizers and keep bases in one and mascaras/eye liners in another. This really has cut down on my get ready time and I love that it makes it more likely I will use certain products since they’re all on display and easily accessible.
I find that I don’t really accumulate too many lip products but to encourage use, I keep them in a glass bowl on my desk. If I look at them everyday, I’m more likely to wear them rather than just the small selection I carry around in my purse.
I’ve started to accumulate more and more brushes, which I keep in various cups on my desk. I keep my eye brushes in a clear glass I picked up from Vernacular (one of my favorite stores) and I store my face brushes in a white and blue mug from Ikea.
How do you store your makeup? Any tricks to keep products accessible without causing clutter?
