I went a bit overboard this year with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which surprised me. I have had a hard time finding fashion inspiration due to my ever growing bump but I went into this sale looking for things that would work postpartum. I wasn’t impressed by the denim or footwear this year so I focused mostly on sweaters, tops, and pieces that would work as maternity wear. My items came in quickly so I wanted to get my annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Update up sooner rather than later since the sale ends August 5.
Looking back at my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks, I actually snagged quite a few things that weren’t included. I placed a total of two orders but everything came in quickly yet piece-by-piece. Unfortunately for my wallet, I am keeping nearly everything, but this is a once-a-year sale after all. I don’t anticipate doing much shopping once I have a newborn and that lovely postpartum body.
The Topshop Long Open Front Cardi was one that I knew I wanted as soon as I saw it in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catalog. I took a chance with the pink, which I have nothing like in my wardrobe, and I really love it! It’s super long (which is especially great for me), has long sleeves that I can cuff (another win), and is super cozy. My one complaint is that it doesn’t have pockets, though, that’s definitely not a deal breaker. If I were made of money, I would pick it up in Oat as well. Last I checked, there are still some of these in stock (just not in the pink that I got), so get on it!
One of the items I was most excited about was the Free People Saturday Morning Cardigan. I have seen bloggers with it for six months or so now and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. It is still pretty pricey at nearly $100 on sale but I was pretty disappointed when I tried it on. It is chunky and oversized, which I like, but it was shorter than I would have liked for how wide it is. I didn’t hate it, but I just didn’t love it enough for how much it cost. Sadly, it will be going back.
Oh man, talk about cozy. The Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite Circle Cardigan is the definition of cozy. Though it is cheaper than the Free People cardigan I picked up, it’s still pretty expensive, but I have never felt a softer cardigan. This sweater does have pockets (hallelujah) and is long enough that I would be comfortable wearing it with leggings. The sleeves are a little tight but thankfully that works just fine with my long arms. I foresee wearing this one around the house while snuggling my newborn this autumn, hence the outfit pictured below. Sadly, this sweater is sold out but there are similar styles (like this and this).
One of the first things I thew into my online cart when I started shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was the Trouvé Rib Funnel Neck Sweater. It’s neutral and oversized, two of my favorite things. This sweater is a bit itchy but mostly soft, and I love the funnel neck. I’m a bit nervous about the instructions to hand wash but, fingers crossed, I won’t screw it up (RIP Madewell mustard sweater). I don’t know if this sweater is long enough to wear with leggings, but it will be just fine with jeans in the late fall/winter. This is still available in teal.
The biggest reason I picked up the Free People January Tee was that I can wear it now. My pregnancy has made it harder and harder for me to find things to wear and this tee is long enough to cover my belly AND the top of my bottoms/my bum. I absolutely love the yellow color and plan to pair it with my maternity jeans and leggings throughout the rest of my pregnancy and beyond. The yellow is sold out but there are still a handful of colors available.
This was the last item I picked up from the Sale but it may be my favorite. The Socialite Thermal Henley Top is super soft and I think it will be super versatile this fall. It reminds me a lot of this Urban Outfitters henley but with a slightly less oversized fit. I grabbed this in a large because it was the last size available but it actually seems to fit me OK (keep in mind, though, that I am 30 weeks pregnant). I cannot wait to pair this with leggings and denim in the autumn. Though it has sold out, I would 100% consider paying full price for it because I love it that much.
All the Rest
The last two pieces that I picked up are the Zella Mamasana Live In Maternity Ankle Leggings and Nom Sleeveless Maternity/Nursing Dress. I was surprised by how many maternity pieces were included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so I made sure to thoroughly browse the selection. Zella leggings are my favorite so I was soooo happy to find a pair of maternity leggings in the mix. These are shorter, tighter, and less soft than my other Zella Live In leggings but they still fit me great. The top is super comfortable on my belly and is loose enough that there’s still room to grow. I read some reviews of the Nom dress after I placed my order and I had anticipated returning it but I actually like it. It’s comfortable and versatile. I purchased it in navy, which is still longer available, but I also love the black and white stripe. which isn’t available. This dress is a bit formal with it’s tight fit but I’m sure I will wear it in the early fall while it’s still warm out.
This weekend gave me a taste of autumn-like weather and I’m greedy and want more. I proclaimed for the first time this season that “I cannot wait for fall”. We have been so busy preparing for baby and I cannot believe that in 10 weeks, she will be here. I hope to share a third trimester update and a nursery tour soon!
