Eyelet & Denim // OOTD from Madewell

Eyelet & Denim OOTD

This weekend was a great balance of busy and not busy (my favorite). We slept in Saturday and it was wonderful knowing there was nowhere I needed to be. I had been waiting alllll week to watch La La Land so as soon as we were awake and had breakfast and coffee, we plopped down on the couch. I know I’m way late to the party but I just adore that movie. We then lounged around until 3 or so, which was much needed after last week. When I finally did get ready to be seen in public, I broke out my new threads I picked up from Madewell last week. I’m in love with this eyelet & denim outfit of the day.

Saturday night was our assigned date night to celebrate our third wedding anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere new. To keep riding on our art museum kick from Copenhagen, we decided to pop over to the Wexner Center for the Arts. Unfortunately, this was not the experience we were looking for so we didn’t spend too much time inside and instead wandered around campus for a bit reliving my college days. We finished the night out at Marcella’s and it was fab as always. Marcella’s has a very special place in my heart and Chris and I have celebrated quite a few bigs steps there (signing our first lease, our 7th anniversary and the night we got engaged). If you have never tried it, I HIGHLY recommend the zucchini parmesan.

I digress. Back to the outfit of the day. If I had to pick my favorite clothing store, it would have to be Madewell. I’ve accumulated quite a few things from there over the years and they are always my favorite things to wear. Last weekend, I splurged on a couple new things I had seen online and just knew I had to have. The Eyelet Bell-Sleeve Shirt is cropped ever so slightly and pairs perfectly with high-rise bottoms. I see bell sleeves everywhere and I love that this top has them, but the look is still subtle. The fabric is light and perfect for a hot summer day when paired with a nude bra.

The jeans are one of those things that I just slowly fell in love with. If you remember when I talked about my overalls (also from Madewell, what a surprise), I mentioned I wasn’t so sure about the drop hem look. I’ve found that as long as the edges aren’t too frayed, I dig it. These jeans are nice and skinny and the holes are surprisingly not too much for me. I love the 9-inch waist and I think it makes them a much more flattering fit without being too high.

Eyelet & Denim OOTD barrow flat

These shoes! I mean… face with hearts emoji all the way. I pre-ordered a pair of the Barrow Flats back in February and when they finally arrived in April, I was heartbroken to learn they were too big. I ordered in a 10 because they didn’t have a 9.5 but with these shoes, you definitely need to order half size to a whole size down. When I saw that new colors were fully stocked, I immediately orderd a 9 in the blush and when they arrived, I knew it was meant to be. I absolutely love the color. They are so beautiful and fit pretty well but I’m still working on the breaking in part to make them perfect.

Eyelet & Denim OOTD topshop shirt jacket

I finished the outfit out with the army green Ethan Shirt Jacket from TopShop. I brought it along because I am always cold but ended up not needing it, which is a bit of a shame. I picked it up for a steal during the last Nordstrom sale and love the weight of the fabric. It’s not too stiff or heavy, which will help me reach for it over a sweater. I personalized it with a cute little “Dog Mom” pin from Five15 that I picked up from Moorea Seal when I got my shoes.

I bought everything but the jacket for full price and I have no regrets. I’m all about comfort and other than the shoes that need broken in a bit, I was extremely comfortable in everything I had on. I plan on pairing the eyelet top with more high-waisted bottoms (skirts, shorts, etc) and I’m sure I will be wearing it all the time. Do you have a piece of clothing that you find yourself wearing all the time?
