I had grand plans for this past weekend and they just didn’t really happen. The weather was cold, which was really disappointing compared to the unseasonably warm temperatures we’ve experienced so far in Ohio. I wasn’t as productive as I had wanted to be but I did get to relax and spend time with family/Micah so all was well. I struggled to brainstorm blog ideas so here are some of my favorites so far in March.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that my first two favorites this month were picked up from Winter Flea in February. I picked up two prints from And Here We Are (one is already hanging in our bathroom) but I just haven’t found the perfect home for this one yet. It’s currently leaning against a wall but this weekend, I saw the greeting card version at Vernacular, and almost bought it too… I just realllllly like the plant print. I’m hoping to hang it soon!
I also picked up a grey Flea Your Mind tee from Columbus Winter Flea. I saw it featured on their Instagram before the event and knew I had to have it. I’m all about that casual t-shirt life and I love the stitched detail and it really is one of the softest tees I own (so much so that I googled Alternative Apparel and may have to purchase a couple more).
I’ve definitely bought less makeup than in the past but I did manage to get my hands on the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer. I thought I loved my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer but, let me just tell ya, this stuff blows the NARS concealer out of the water. I have it in fair and light and when I say it’s full coverage I mean it’s FULL COVERAGE. I don’t wear foundation anymore because this stuff covers anything and everything I want covered. I don’t have problems with creasing and I think the shade selection is pretty good.
I may not have added a lot of makeup to my collection recently but I have added quite a few skincare items such as the Herbivore Orchid Youth Preserving Facial Oil. Over the last month or so it has kept my skin hydrated and does makes it look much more glowy. I apply five or so drops before my moisturizer and let it sit for a few minutes while I brush my teeth and put my hair up. I have made it through winter without feeling too dry or flaky (also thanks to my nighttime skincare from Kiehl’s). The smell is a bit odd, though, and reminds me of Play Doh. I look past that, though, because it makes my skin feel so dang good in the morning.
Right after Christmas I picked up a couple home decor coffee table books from Amazon. I read through domino: Your Guide to a Stylish Home first because I saw it mentioned all over Instagram and it looked beautiful. It was actually a really interesting read and inspired me to look at each of my rooms and really think about how I can make them work for me and not just to replicate what I see on blogs and magazines. I am trying to fill our home with things I love and this book happens to be one of those things. I also really love all the resources in the back and have found some great people to follow on Instagram/online and online vendors.
My second to last favorite I picked up while Chris and I were walking around Eclectiques Antique Mall a few weeks ago. We browsed over 8,000 square feet of rooms packed with various items and walked out with nothing but this vibrant Swedish Dala Horse. It was only $6 and since I love Scandinavian design and we are hoping to visit Sweden this May, I couldn’t pass it up. Also, I was also born in the year of the horse so… that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
If you follow me on Instagram I’m sure you can tell I’m all about plants. I’m slowly starting to become the crazy plant lady but I’m still a little unsure of my green thumb. I haven’t killed a house plant in a while but my pencil cactus is starting to look a little… unwell (pray for him). In order to add some green without the fear of it dying, I picked up this adorable succulent in a copper pot from Target and everything about him makes me happy.
I’m sure these favorites will continue to be favorites through the next couple of months but I hope warm weather is on its way and I can expand my favorites to include more outdoor-friendly items. I am looking forward to getting our flower beds into shape and to set up our back patio and breezeway in a way that encourages us to spend more time outside. Our big trip to Denmark is coming up in late spring (we’re going to Denmark, did you know) and I am already planning what I should bring and I am on the lookout for a couple more pieces to complete my wardrobe for slightly cooler climate (and walking… lots of walking). I’ll share my spring picks next month and I’m sure I’ll throw an updated favorites in sometime around May/June so stay tuned!
