Oh my how did we make it the last month of 2017? November was beautiful and wonderful and I am a bit sad to see it go but I am so excited for the holidays! I couldn’t wait until December 1 to put my tree up and I already have several gifts wrapped and tucked in beneath it. I do have quite a bit of shopping to do this month but I do look forward to weekends at home with a Christmas record on and my pets curled up beside me. See what else I hope to be up to in my December Goals.
Quick update to my November Goals, I did not purchase a dining area rug but we did get our chandelier hung. The space feels so much better already and I have been hunting for the perfect area rug. Since I foresee December flying by quicker than the last few months, I want another set of easy goals that will fit in with the business of the holiday season and help me enjoy December as much as possible.
- Hygge-proof my home. I hate the cold. After the holidays are over, I always have a really hard time enjoying winter. It gets dark too early and when I get home from work, I feel like there is nothing to do but sit around until bed. The cycle repeats. The more time I spend working on my home, the happier I am spending time in it. Chris and I have spent a lot of time reading about Scandinavian culture and after a visit to Copenhagen where we could see it in action ourselves, we are determined to make our home hygge. We are slowly adding the layers on and I like our space more and more everyday. I hope this will help us both enjoy winter just a little bit more rather than wishing it all away.
- Start planning gallery wall. I have had a gallery wall on my to-do list for quite some time. Over the years of renting, Chris and I have collected art and photos that we hoped to one day hang in our home. I have recently picked up quite a few frames and we have just about narrowed down where we want the gallery to go. I hope to take it a bit more seriously and start framing everything and laying out where we want each piece to go. We will definitely be using the handy paper trick to finally get this done.
- Purge what I don’t need or use. This is an easy one. I am not one to hold on to things that I no longer love but with Christmas around the corner, now is the time to get rid of what we don’t want to make room for things we will be gifted or purchase during the holiday season. Our closets are just a little fuller than I would like and our basement has become a bit of a dumping ground. We have already cleared out so much but I hope to take it up a notch this month.
Before we know it 2017 will be over and I hope to have something to show for it as far as my home is concerned. We have really made some progress and I am excited to see what else we can do with the arrival of 2018. I hope everyone has a safe week and spends time doing something that you love. Happy Monday!
