Four years ago I was lost at Ohio State. I was in the middle of my business degree and had just moved in with my boyfriend and felt like all my creativity was leaking out of me and that I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I read fashion blogs everyday (Kendi Everyday, Cupcakes & Cashmere, The Small Things Blog) and thought, I wonder if I could do that. From the beginning, I had no intentions of doing anything other than sharing my love for fashion. Over the years, Chic in Columbus has changed and has come to mean something different to me.
I had a camera, Photoshop, and an idea to try to replicate the posts that I saw on the internet. I had nothing but time on my hand yet it’s obvious from my first few posts that I didn’t really know what I was doing yet at the same time, my very first post shows my style at the time as well as gives insight into what I wanted my blog to be. I was starting to really get into fashion and was starting to find my own personal style. Funny enough, I still own everything in that photo. Though fashion was my original intent with this blog, over the last four years, it has certainly gone beyond that. I can scroll through my past posts and see what was happening in my life based on what I wrote about whether it be wedding planning, beauty when I spent all my money at Sephora, or home inspiration when I was moving/purchasing a home.
I have had dry spots with the blog and haven’t always given it the time that I think it deserves but it is really just for me. I love that this blog has served as a creative outlet for me as well as become a record of my life from age 22 to 26. Yes my blog has changed but so have I.
On this blogiversary, I want to share some of my favorite posts:
