It happened. My sister adopted a baby. I had been looking forward to this day for quite some time. Leading up to the big day, I wondered what it would be like. How I would feel. How it would change our family. I think inserting a baby into any baby-less family is going to cause a huge change… but in a good way.
Micah has definitely stolen all of our hearts already and I’m trying to restrain myself from buying every cute giraffe thing in sight, which I’m sure my sister appreciates. In case you didn’t know, Steffi kind of has a thing for giraffes. It may be an example of one of those said-I-liked-giraffes-one-time things, but it’s too late now. Micah has giraffe onesies, giraffe swaddles, giraffe crib sheets, etc.
Yes, the baby fever is real. I’m glad to have a baby that I can hold and love on yet still get all the sleep I want on the weekends. 🙂 Sorry, Steffi. I’m content for now taking thousands of photos, snuggling him, and spoiling him rotten. He was an easy subject and I might be biased, but I think he’s pretty stinking cute (he just actually is).
I’m sure there will be many more photos to come. I hope to get more practice in and to get better at newborn photography over the next couple of years. It will definitely come in handy when my own kids come along and I’ll have nothing better to do than take photos. There’s no better photo subject than a sweet, sleepy baby. Micah, beware, your aunt is going to constantly have a camera in your face.
