Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. If you are reading this, thank you for your support. I have spent a lot of time reflecting on 2017 and as we near the end of the year, I am getting a bit sad to see the year go. Especially compared to the terrible year before, 2017 has been good to me. I think it is important to reflect on what you are thankful for on a regular basis, but especially being Thanksgiving, I wanted to share some of the things I am currently thankful for.
As my cat is currently snuggled with me on the couch, I must begin with my pets. Little Piggy gave us a bit of a scare two weeks ago with a trip to the emergency vet. Thankfully, we caught his issue early and were able to get him to the OSU Animal Hospital asap (they were great, btw). He only spent one night in the hospital but I was pretty traumatized by the experience and am still riding the high of having him home and healthy. My pets are my children and I want nothing more than for them to be healthy and happy. We really lucked out with our rescues. Max is always there for me and I love seeing his face every morning as soon as I wake.
I have always been close with my family and I have always been grateful for that. The arrival of my nephew into our family has just made everything better than I ever thought possible. I don’t know what we did before he was here as he makes every get together so much more amusing. I am especially thankful for my fav, Chris B, as he makes every day better and brighter.
When this year began, I was so stressed at a job where I felt so undervalued and as of July, I have been at a job I love. I am 4 months in and I still have moments at work where I feel overwhelmed with happiness and relief that I am in a career that I love and one where I feel like I am valued as an employee. My coworkers are pretty great and the short drive in to the office doesn’t suck either. I am incredibly grateful to have a job that I am OK waking up and going to every weekday.
This list does not include all the things I am grateful for but hits on the things that will be most on my mind this Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to sitting around the dinner table with a belly full of food and some of my favorite people. I hope everyone has a safe holiday and takes a second out of the day to reflect on the things that you are grateful for.
