This weekend Chris and I went on a trip to Yellow Springs, Ohio after my sister and her fiance got us a night in a bed & breakfast for our birthday. We drove down Saturday morning and stopped at Young’s Jersey Dairy for lunch. When we finished eating, we headed to John Bryan State Park for an hour or so. It was very chilly but we enjoyed walking the trail and enjoying nature together. We made a pitstop into town and stopped at a used bookstore before checking in at Yellow Springs Country Bed & Breakfast. After checking in at the b&b we decided to also hike the Clifton Gorge. It was beautiful and my G. H. Bass & Co. duck boots got a lot of use walking the cold, damp trail. After a couple more hours of hiking we grabbed dinner in town and then ice cream at Corner Cone. My flurry with vanilla ice cream and Reese’s was delicious! Afterward, we went back to the b&b, played a few rounds of Speed the card game before going to bed.
The next morning we had a delicious breakfast before heading home. We did make one stop at an antique mall in Springfield (Heart of Ohio Antique Center), something I’ve been wanting to do for years. Surprisingly we made it through the whole place in less than two hours. With much self-restraint, we walked away with two large blue Ball mason jars and a 4-pane window sash – items for our wedding. 🙂 It was a great end to a great trip.
