I am so excited to share my new favorite room in the house, our nursery. This is a room that I completely started from scratch on and pretty much has taken shape piece-by-piece ever since I found out I was pregnant. We (honestly, it was mostly me) began to plan out the nursery before we knew if we were having a boy or a girl so I knew I wanted it to be gender neutral and relaxing, yet cheerful. Over time, it has turned into quite the gender neutral boho space so I hope you enjoy my nursery tour.
If you follow my blog, you have probably seen my post where I first shared my plans for the nursery. I definitely stuck to it pretty closely with some swaps here and there. My Pinterest board was filled with nursery inspiration and I took a step back to examine what those spaces had in common and found that nature-inspired, cheerful, and bohemian vibes were present in most rooms. My World Market rug was one of my first purchases I made for the space and I think it really set the tone.
From there, I picked out my crib and dresser, which helped me visualize what the whole space would look like. Chris and I had picked up our Ikea pendant light for our bedroom but it was just too perfect to not go into the nursery (we have yet to replace our bedroom light). Ikea really pulled through for us, and we also got some super affordable shelves to use in the space as well. Everything we got from Ikea is simple and natural looking. I can’t recommend it enough if you are looking to redecorate any room.
Overtime, I began picking up knick knacks here and there and Chris and I would work on the nursery a little bit just about every weekend. I am super into mustard yellow at the moment and as we are having a girl, I took the opportunity to throw in blush pink, as I haven’t included it anywhere else in our home. I pretty much just found things that I loved, bought them, and found a place for them in the nursery. My favorite stores have been Cubshrub and Spearmint Love.
One of the hardest things for me to pick out was a glider (and ottoman). Gliders can be so expensive and I initially wanted a rocker like I shared in my inspiration post, but decided that might not be the best on hardwood floors. I knew I wanted something comfortable, tall, and neutral. I made the mistake of popping into Crate & Barrel one day and tried the Milo Glider and HOLY COW IT’S SO COMFORTABLE… and also over $1,000. I really regret walking in that day. However, I finally just started looking at gliders on Wayfair and somewhat spontaneously picked up this one because it reminded me a little of the Crate & Barrel one. I finished it off with this pouf from CB2.
And that is all she wrote. I could go on and on about how much I love my nursery but I know that may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I know Baby Berry won’t be spending too much time in this room at first but I cannot wait for her to grow in it. I hope she finds it as relaxing and happy as we do. Thanks for checking out my nursery tour!
