It feels weird typing this out knowing that when it goes up, I will have a baby. I am sitting here at 40 weeks pregnant starting to feel like baby girl will never come, which is, of course, ridiculous. It’s an absolutely perfect Saturday. The sun is shining and the temperature is set to stay below 70 degrees. I am getting so excited for autumn and all the new things that are going to come with it this year. I wanted that to be reflected in my autumn picks/new mom wish list.
I think it’s obvious that my first few weeks after baby will be relatively uneventful. I am sure I will spend most of my time at home, so I want to be prepared to be comfortable. I am pretty happy with my old college quilt but would like to pick up another blanket to snuggle with on cool mornings and evenings. This fleece blanket from Urban Outfitters looks so comfortable and hopefully, won’t show too much Max hair. Another item that will make me more comfortable at home is the Herbivore bath salts. I don’t know how I will find an opportunity to take a bath when I have a newborn but hopefully with C’s help I can steal away for 30-45 minutes to unwind with a hot bath.
During my nesting period, I’ve been trying to get the house in order and I would say just about every room is set up how I would like. The only space that I think needs some serious TLC is the back entry way. This tiny, tiny space takes up a corner of our kitchen but is the first place we stop before we leave the house and once we return home. The round table and hooks we have installed have done the job so far, but I would love to see it offer more storage since a new baby will bring a lot more things that we need to take out with us everyday (diaper bag, most importantly). This West Elm shelf might be exactly what we need and should fit the space.
Whenever the time comes that I will be venturing out of the house, I want things that are easy to put on but make me feel good about myself. This wrap sweater from Madewell is unlike anything I currently own and hopefully will make breastfeeding still possible. I also have fallen in love with the Asher booties and feel I can never have enough slip-on boots. To top it all off (pun not intended), a hat will cover any unwashed hair that I am sure I will often have.
It is silly to start worrying about back-to-work when my maternity leave ends, but knowing me, I will need to feel like I have some control over my life when the time comes and a new planner will help me keep my sanity. I had a Bando planner in the past and love that they are unlined and come in a variety of sizes. I hope to fill it with many fun plans for 2019 to start making memories as a family of 3 (plus Max and Pig :-)).
